after a brazen careerist blogger meetup in nyc, i got an email notifying me that i’d actually won something in the raffle i’d submitted my name to! (whatttt? I NEVER win anything!)
it ended up being a copy of the book Creating Magic, by lee cockerell (the former exec VP of operations at the walt disney resort).
although i hadn’t even realized what was being raffled off when i scribbled my name down and dropped it in the bucket, when I got the book and began reading, I couldn’t have been more excited about it. i’m ALL about social strategies, so the book’s premise – 10 common sense leadership strategies – was RIGHT up my alley.
as i often tell my clients, a big part of being socially strategic is reading as much as you can. i can’t think of anyone who won’t find the tips and techniques in this book to be helpful in their personal and professional lives.
definitely check out Creating Gen-Y Magic by greg rollet, a fellow brazen careerist blogger, and social media marketer/gen-y guru, who talks about the book and highlights stories of gen-y creating magic in their own lives and in the lives of others through leadership, in the following link:

practical (not pretentious) solutions for the potentially nerve-wrecking situations of everyday life.
a westbrook strategies production.

Thanks for the plug! Not sure I'm a Gen-Y Guru just yet ;) but I am sure working on it.
